Welcome to Hinterland! We are Janelle and Jessie, and we started Hinterland to create a collective of like-minded professional photographers. Every photo will be a reflection of each loving look and thought unseen, making every moment worth remembering. The inspiration for Hinterland starts with the definition itself: Hinterland is defined as the "the land behind", uncharted places, or areas lying beyond what is visible or known.

Hello, I am Janelle one of Hinterland's creators and main photographers. It's been about 10 years of shutter clicks and making mark in the photography world. On days my camera is not in my hand, you can find me enjoying time with my family, playing video games, cuddling with my cat ziggy, dancing or snowboarding. I have been dancing since I was just two years old and I continue that passion by teaching dance at my Mom's local dance studio.
Although my main niche wedding photography, my expertise branches much further than just weddings. Some of my favorite sessions are working with couples, families and their pets! I love serving couples who are invested in the whole process and open to artistic vision when capturing all those unplanned moments that become memories.

Hello, I'm Jessie and I'm a wedding photographer, portrait photographer and soul seeker on a mission to support and capture meaningful and beautiful moments. I’ve never outgrown my love for wild places and believe strongly that the Midwest is full of hidden treasures and spectacular landscapes (dude, the North Shore forever and ever, amen).
I am a mom to two beautiful, red headed boys and I love every creative, playful, and joyful minute with them. As a family, we love to spend time exploring the outdoors, creating science projects in our home, or traveling to new places.
I am a big believer that your story matters, moments matter, and artful photographs matter. I will be there every step along the way to learn about you, what you wish for, dream of, and hold closest to your hearts.

Once you've filled out our contact form we will set up an initial meeting so we can chat and get to know each other a little bit. We want to hear all about the details from your big day + any questions you have for us! From there if you think we are a good fit we will send over a contract and an invoice for the retainer. Once the contract is signed and the payment is made you’re set! We will be there to help every step of the way including creating a timeline of how the day will look, finer details, and vendor recommendations.
HOW DOES THE WEDDING PROCESS WORK?
We live in Wausau, WI and we are always down to travel! Our destination wedding package includes all travel fees. We handle all of the booking to save you the headache!
If you'd like us to travel for the engagement session, I have you cover the bare minimum (flight, stay, transportation). I have a standard base travel fee of $800 and it may increase based on location.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS? HOW DOES THAT WORK?
The number of photos varies by wedding type, size, length, etc. You will get a minimum of 350 fully edited photos but we promise we will leave nothing out! The day goes by so fast and we do our best to capture all of the little in between moments you might not even remember happening.
HOW MANY PHOTOS DO YOU INCLUDE FOR A WEDDING?
Our non-refundable retainer to book your date is $1800 regardless of what package you book. The remainder of the payment is split into 2 payments. The second payment is for any planning services we provide and is due half way between booking and your wedding. The final payment is due 1 month before your wedding.
HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
We will edit about 15 of our favorite images and send those over within 2 days so you can immediately relive the day over! The full gallery takes up to 12 weeks.
